This policy explains how Get Married in Vegas collects, uses and looks after your personal information when you visit getmarriedinvegas.co.uk, send us an enquiry, or plan your wedding with us. We've tried to keep it plain and honest. If anything is unclear, just ask.
Who we are
Get Married in Vegas is a trading name of Thomas, a sole trader based in the Isle of Man. We plan Las Vegas weddings for couples from the UK.
We are the "controller" of your personal information, which means we decide how and why it is used and we are responsible for looking after it.
- Address: 32 Heywood Close, Onchan, Isle of Man, IM3 3AF
- Email: hello@getmarriedinvegas.co.uk
We're a one-person business, so there's no separate data protection officer. Thomas handles every privacy question personally.
Because we're based in the Isle of Man, we follow Isle of Man data protection law (the Data Protection Act 2018 of the Isle of Man and the GDPR and LED Implementing Regulations 2018). Because our website and services are aimed at people in the UK, we also follow UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018) and the UK's rules on cookies and electronic marketing (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or PECR).
The information we collect
When you send us an enquiry
Our enquiry form asks for:
- your name and your partner's name
- your email address
- your phone number (optional)
- the month and year you're thinking of marrying, or that you're not sure yet
- what you're interested in, such as a chapel or desert ceremony (optional)
Please only give us your partner's name if they're happy for you to share it, and let them know about this policy.
When you send the form, we also record some information about how you found us and the device you used:
- the web address you first landed on, including any campaign tags in it (for example
utm_sourceorutm_campaign) - ad click identifiers in that address, if you arrived from an advert (Google's
gclid, gbraidorwbraid, or Meta'sfbclid) - the website that referred you, if your browser shares it
- your browser's "user agent" (a short description of your browser and device type)
- the cookie choices you'd made at the time, and when you sent the form
When you talk to us
If you email us, message us on WhatsApp or speak to us by phone, we keep a record of what we discuss so we can help you properly. This may include anything you choose to tell us about your plans, your guest numbers, dates, budget and preferences.
When you book
If you go on to book, we'll need more details to arrange your wedding. Depending on what you choose, this can include the full names exactly as they appear on your passports, dates of birth, your travel dates, the hotel you're staying in, contact details for the day, and payment records. We'll explain what's needed and why at the time.
We don't ask for sensitive information such as health details. Some things you tell us may naturally reveal personal details (for example, that you're a same-sex couple, or that one of you has been married before, which the marriage licence process asks about). We only use this to plan your wedding, and we treat it with extra care.
When you browse our website
- Always: like any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) processes your IP address and basic technical information about your visit so the site can load, stay secure and block abuse. We also count form submissions per IP address for a few minutes to stop spam.
- Only if you agree: we use analytics and advertising tools that use cookies and similar technology. See "Cookies and tracking" below and our cookie policy.
Why we use your information, and our lawful bases
Data protection law says we must have a lawful reason (a "lawful basis") for each way we use your information. Here's ours.
| What we do | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Reply to your enquiry, answer questions and send you ideas or a quote | Because you asked us to | Taking steps at your request before entering a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to people who contact us |
| Keep your partner's name with your enquiry | So we can plan for both of you | Our legitimate interest (and yours) in planning your wedding together |
| Plan and deliver your wedding, take payments, handle changes and cancellations | To do what we've agreed | Performance of our contract with you |
| Follow up by email if we haven't heard back | A gentle check-in about your enquiry, not a newsletter | Our legitimate interest in following up enquiries you've made. You can ask us to stop at any time |
| Record how you found us (landing page, campaign tags, referrer) | To understand which ads and pages bring enquiries, so we spend our budget sensibly | Our legitimate interest in running and improving our business |
| Share ad click IDs, and a scrambled ("hashed") version of your email and phone number, with Google to measure whether our ads work | To measure our advertising | Your consent (marketing cookies). We only do this if you've accepted marketing cookies |
| Analytics and session recordings | To see how the site is used and fix what isn't working | Your consent (analytics cookies) |
| Remember your cookie choice and store the choice with your enquiry | To respect your choice and show we did | Our legal obligation to get and record consent, and our legitimate interest in proving it |
| Security, spam and abuse prevention (including Cloudflare Turnstile, if used) | To protect the site, you and us | Our legitimate interest in keeping our website and enquiry form secure |
| Keep business and tax records | Because the law requires it | Legal obligation |
| Deal with complaints or legal claims | To protect our rights and yours | Our legitimate interest in handling disputes fairly |
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we've weighed them against your rights and kept what we do to what you'd reasonably expect. You can ask us for more detail, and you can object (see "Your rights").
We don't sell your information, and we don't use it to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
We won't add you to a newsletter or send you general marketing emails unless you ask us to. If we ever start a newsletter, we'll ask first.
Cookies and tracking
We use one cookie that's strictly necessary: it remembers your cookie choice. Everything else only runs if you say yes.
Nothing from Google or Microsoft loads on our site until you choose. If you accept:
- Analytics cookies turn on Google Analytics 4 (how many people visit, which pages they view, where they come from) and Microsoft Clarity (heatmaps and recordings of how people move around and scroll the page, so we can spot what's confusing). We set Clarity to mask what you type into form fields.
- Marketing cookies turn on Google Ads conversion tracking (to tell us whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to enquire or message us), including "enhanced conversions", where your email address and phone number are scrambled on your device using a one-way code (hashing) before being sent to Google so it can match the enquiry to an ad click. Marketing consent also lets us keep a small cookie with the campaign details you arrived with for 90 days, so an enquiry you send later is still linked to the right ad.
We use Google's Consent Mode in its "basic" form, which means Google's tags don't load at all unless you agree.
We don't use Meta (Facebook or Instagram) tracking at the moment. If we add it, we'll update this policy and our cookie banner, and we'll only use it with your consent.
You can change your mind at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the foot of every page. Full details, including every cookie's name and how long it lasts, are in our cookie policy.
Who we share your information with
We only share what's needed, with people who help us run the business or deliver your wedding.
- Cloudflare, Inc. hosts our website and stores enquiries in its storage service (Workers KV). It also provides security tools, including Turnstile, an anti-spam check on the form if we switch it on. Cloudflare acts for us as our processor. For Turnstile, Cloudflare also uses some technical signals to improve its own bot detection, and is responsible for that use itself.
- Telegram delivers a notification of each new enquiry to Thomas's phone, through a private bot. The notification contains the details you entered on the form.
- Our email provider, if we reply to you or follow up by email.
- WhatsApp (part of Meta), only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp. WhatsApp's own privacy policy also applies to your use of WhatsApp.
- Google (Google Analytics and Google Ads) and Microsoft (Clarity), only if you accept the relevant cookies.
- Wedding suppliers in Las Vegas, such as chapels, officiants, photographers, florists, hair and make-up artists and transport companies. We only share your details with them once you've booked, only what each one needs to do their part, and only with your agreement.
- Our professional advisers, such as an accountant or solicitor, where needed.
- Authorities, if the law requires it, or to prevent fraud or protect our legal rights.
We'll name any of our service providers on request.
Sending information outside the UK and the Isle of Man
Some of the companies we use are based in, or store information in, other countries, mainly the United States. Telegram's group companies are based in the United Arab Emirates and the British Virgin Islands. Your wedding itself takes place in the United States, so details we share with Las Vegas suppliers will go there.
When your information leaves the UK or the Isle of Man, we make sure it's protected in one of these ways:
- the country has been recognised by the UK or Isle of Man as giving an adequate level of protection (information moves freely between the Isle of Man and the UK on this basis)
- the company is certified under the UK Extension to the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (Cloudflare, Google and Microsoft take part in this framework)
- the company has agreed to standard data protection contract terms approved for this purpose, such as the UK International Data Transfer Addendum
- the transfer is necessary to carry out our contract with you, for example sending your names and wedding details to the chapel you've chosen in Las Vegas
You can ask us for more information about the safeguards we rely on.
How long we keep your information
We only keep information for as long as we need it.
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Enquiries that don't turn into a booking (form details, messages, notes) | 24 months from our last contact with you, then deleted |
| Bookings (your booking details, correspondence, invoices and payment records) | 6 years after your wedding date, or after our last dealings with you if later, for tax, accounting and legal reasons |
| Telegram enquiry notifications | Deleted from the chat on the same timetable as the enquiry they relate to |
| WhatsApp and email conversations | On the same timetable as the enquiry or booking they relate to |
| Spam-prevention counters (per IP address) | A few minutes |
| Hosting and security logs at Cloudflare | Short periods set by Cloudflare, normally days rather than weeks |
| Your cookie choice | 12 months, then we ask again |
| Campaign details cookie (only with marketing consent) | 90 days |
| Google Analytics data | 14 months |
| Microsoft Clarity recordings and heatmaps | Recordings are normally kept for 30 days; summary reports for up to 13 months |
If you ask us to delete your enquiry sooner, we will, unless we need to keep something for a legal reason.
How we keep it safe
Enquiries are stored in Cloudflare's secure storage, not on a laptop or in a spreadsheet. Only Thomas can access them, through a password-protected admin page. Information is sent over encrypted connections. We keep the number of tools we use small, and we don't copy your details anywhere they aren't needed.
No system is perfectly secure, but if something ever went wrong that put your information at risk, we'd tell you and the regulator where the law requires it.
Your rights
You have rights over your personal information. You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of the information we hold about you (access)
- correct anything that's wrong or incomplete (rectification)
- delete your information (erasure), where we don't need to keep it for a legal reason
- limit how we use it while a concern is looked into (restriction)
- stop using it where we rely on legitimate interests, including for any follow-up messages (objection)
- send it to you or another organisation in a commonly used electronic format, where we hold it because of your consent or our contract (portability)
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it. For cookies, use the "Cookie settings" link at the foot of any page. Withdrawing consent doesn't affect anything we did before you withdrew it
To use any of these rights, email hello@getmarriedinvegas.co.uk. There's no charge. We may need to check who you are before we act. We'll reply within one month, and if a request is complicated we may extend that by up to two more months, but we'll tell you why within the first month.
Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first at hello@getmarriedinvegas.co.uk, so we can try to put it right. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 30 days, look into it properly, and let you know the outcome without undue delay.
You also have the right to complain to a data protection regulator. You can do this at any time, but they'll usually expect you to have raised it with us first.

Children
Our services are for adults planning their own wedding. You must be 18 or over to book with us. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us their details, please let us know and we'll delete them.
Changes to this policy
We'll update this policy when we change how we use your information, for example if we add a new tool such as Meta's advertising pixel. The date at the top shows when it last changed. If a change is significant, we'll make it clear on the website, and where we rely on your consent we'll ask again.
